The expressions for the displacements caused by a point tensile dislocation source in a two phase medium are integrated analytically to obtain the displacement field produced by a finite rectangular tensile crack in a homogeneous, isotropic, elastic half-space in welded contact with another elastic half-space. The results are valid for arbitrary values of the Poisson's ratio of the two media and for the arbitrary observer locations. The variation of the displacement field with the distance from the interface as well as with the distance from the fault is studied numerically.

Key Words: Deformation • welded half-spaces • tensile fault.
